E-Training and Certification Services

Overview

ESI Employee Assistance Group, one of the 20 largest employee assistance service providers in the United States, services over 1,500 businesses and approximately 750,000 employees nationwide. They offer counseling services, literature, and testing to help build better work environments across America. ESI's training services, being paper-based, were very expensive to administer. Furthermore, the time to certify an individual ranged in weeks. Re-engineering the training system and making it web-based automated training, made certification immediate, and allowed individuals to take the courses and tests at their convenience.

Problem

One of the services offered by ESI is employee training.  They offer training in topics such as hiring, violence, discipline, discrimination, and harassment.  ESI would distribute paper training material and multiple choice tests to the employees of their clients and would later grade those tests by hand and finally send back a certificate of completion.  The paper trail process took an enormous amount of time and effort.  ESI wanted to save time and money by turning their training offering into an e-Training opportunity.

Solution

Lance Technologies took the paper training and multiple choice tests and converted them to a web based e-Training system.  Now employees can easily sign in, read the training material, take the test, and receive instant feedback regarding their test.  If they got any questions wrong, they are directed to re-read the training material and re-take the question.  Not only does this process save time for everyone, but also is a more effective learning tool.

In addition to changing their process to e-Training, Lance Technologies included reporting tools so that employers can sign in and review which of their employees have completed the mandatory training sections.  Since all this data is stored securely online, this information becomes a permanent record, and can be referred to in the future, saving everyone the hassle of keeping paper records of who took what test.
